Week 17 Power Rankings

1 – San Francisco 49ers (2)

With another dominating win last week, the 49ers have earned the top spot in our Week 17 Power Rankings. San Francisco has now won eight straight games, six of which have been by multiple scores. On Sunday, George Kittle continued his great stretch of football in Deebo Samuel’s absence with six catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Since trading for Christian McCaffrey, this offence has scored over 30 points in five of nine games and will be tough for any defence to stop, regardless of who’s taking snaps at quarterback.

2 – Philadelphia Eagles (1)

Even with a loss to the Cowboys on Christmas Eve, the Eagles still come in at the #2 spot in our Week 17 Power Rankings. The fact that Philadelphia was able to go into Dallas with a backup quarterback and come that close to winning should prove just how tough they’ll be to beat at home with Jalen Hurts back. The team does have some injury issues and defensive things to work out, but they’re still one of the most dangerous teams in the league.

3 – Buffalo Bills (4)

Although it wasn’t a great first half in Chicago, the Bills ended up with a big victory against the Bears on Sunday. The defence held Justin Fields to just eleven yards rushing while Devin Singletary and James Cook were both extremely efficient in the run game on offence. Success from running backs has been tough to find in recent years for the Bills but getting that kind of production consistently could be last piece of the puzzle for a team looking to finally get over the hump and into the Super Bowl.

4 – Kansas City Chiefs (5)

The Chiefs dominated Seattle last week despite only putting up 24 points. It was a frigid day in Kansas City, but the team proved they can win games with the defence as well as the offence. Playoff teams will obviously have more potent offences than the Seahawks without Tyler Lockett, but Sunday’s game proved just how much of a difference there is between Kansas City and a middle of the pack team in the NFL right now.

5 – Cincinnati Bengals (3)

Once again, the Bengals had some great highs and some tough lows in their win against the Patriots last week. After jumping out to a 22-0 lead in the first half, Cincinnati was shut out in the second. Up four with under four minutes to play, a Ja’Maar Chase fumble set the Patriots up in Cincinnati territory for a great chance to steal the win, but the Pats would ultimately fumble the ball back inside the ten yard line. Even though they just scraped by at home, the Bengals’ upside is what keeps them in the Week 17 Power Rankings.
