The calendar has flipped to December, and the NFL playoff picture is officially a huge mess! After a wild Week 13 that saw major upsets (Carolina and Chicago!), the top of the league has been shaken up.
Since this season has shown that every week is different, here are the five teams that are playing the most dominant, championship-caliber football right now, heading into Week 14!
5. 🌊 Seattle Seahawks (9-3)
Why they’re here: This team is an absolute scoring machine and arguably has the most dangerous offense in the NFC. While the defense has had a few shaky moments, the Seahawks have blown out teams when they need to, and their three losses have been by a combined total of only nine points. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is on a historic pace, threatening a 2,000-yard receiving season, and that level of precision makes them a threat every single down. They’ve found a way to stack up wins and control their fate in the NFC West.
4. 🦬 Buffalo Bills (8-4)
Why they’re here: The Bills are back! After an early-season wobble, Coach McDermott has them back to their old-school identity: elite running game, magical Josh Allen moments, and a suffocating defense. They absolutely dismantled the Steelers last week, reminding everyone that they are built for January football. If they can maintain this commitment, they are easily the biggest threat to the AFC Conference.
3. 🐻 Chicago Bears (9-3)
Why they’re here: The Bears are the No. 1 Seed in the NFC, period. After back-to-back upset wins over the Rams and the defending champion Eagles, this team has earned their place. First-year Head Coach Ben Johnson has turned them into a tough team that can run the ball and get enough big plays from their young QB, Caleb Williams. They are riding a massive wave of confidence and are peaking at the perfect time.
2. 🛡️ New England Patriots (10-2)
Why they’re here: The Patriots have the best record in the AFC and continue to win by wearing teams down. Their defense is strong, and they force opponents into mistakes. You simply cannot overlook a 10-2 team that has a tight grip on their division, and their ability to close out close games is a championship-level trait.
1. 🐴 Denver Broncos (10-2)
Why they’re here: The AFC’s new King! The Broncos are on a stellar run, winning a ton of games and securing the tie-breaker advantage for the AFC’s top seed. While they’ve made some of the wins unnecessarily hard, they are getting elite play from their defense, especially with Patrick Surtain II anchoring the secondary. They are winning games in every phase and have shown they can get the job done in crunch time. Until another team can catch them in the standings, the Broncos are the team to beat in the AFC.
🧐 The Big Takeaway
The NFC has turned into chaos with the Bears, Rams, and Seahawks all tied at the top of the conference, while the AFC is a battle of attrition between the Broncos, Patriots, and a surging Bills team. Get ready for exciting final stretch!
