The Masters: Four To Watch

It’s officially Masters week! Golf’s most prestigious tournament gets underway on Thursday, but with players already on the grounds, now is the time to start making your picks for the 2024 tournament. With lots of storylines to follow including the LIV roster’s return to PGA competition for the first time this year, The Masters surely will not disappoint. Today, we’re going over four golfers we expect to see near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday. We’ve got two favourites with experience at the top of major competition and two guys looking to surprise the patrons and make some noise at the 2024 Masters Tournament.

Scottie Scheffler (+500)

It’s the obvious pick, but it’s impossible to NOT put Scottie Scheffler on this list. The 2022 Champ has been a Top-10 machine this year and is once again playing some terrific golf. Since 2020, Scheffler has nine Top-10s, five Top-5s and one win in thirteen major starts. In his last three starts on tour, he’s won twice and finished tied for second. Scheffler is absolutely the favorite this week and his low odds reflect that. However, that doesn’t mean he’s a lock to be in the mix on Sunday. Of the last fifteen pre-tournament favorites at the Masters, only three have finished in the Top 5 and none have been crowned the champion. Expect Scheffler to put in a good effort to stop that streak.

Brooks Koepka (+2100)

The five-time major champ is coming back to Augusta with something to prove after a disappointing finish to the tournament last year. There may not be a player in the world right now that gets up for majors like Brooks Koepka does, and with two runner-up finishes at The Masters in the last five years, he’s on everyone’s radar once again. Even with a tough week on the LIV circuit in Miami just last weekend, there should be no doubt that a healthy Brooks Koepka could very well be in the mix come Sunday afternoon. For competitors like Koepka, current form just doesn’t matter as much leading up to the majors.

Sahith Theegala (+5500)

The Masters hasn’t been too kind to newcomers over the years, but in his tournament debut last season, Sahith Theegala played some great golf and secured a Top-10 finish. Maybe more importantly, the young Theegala has risen up the ranks consistently over the last few years and comes into the week ranked fifteenth in the world with four Top-10 finishes this season. He’s a very consistent player that does everything well. With last year’s showing at Augusta as well as his recent play trending in the right direction, Theegala is definitely someone to keep an eye on this year at the Masters.

Corey Conners (+9000)

Conners doesn’t have a Top-10 finish yet this season, but he also hasn’t missed a cut. His form is moving in the right direction too, as the Canadian secured two Top-20 finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Although he comes into this week a little off the radar, Conners has performed well at the Masters in the past and had three Top-10 finishes in a row from 2020 to 2022 before missing the cut last year. Conners’ superb iron play helps him navigate Augusta, and if he can get the putter rolling this week, we could see his name near the top of the leaderboard here once again.
