Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Friday and we haven’t stopped thinking about Scottie Scheffler since – the range that man has! First of all, anyone who says that this movie is bad or stupid clearly doesn’t have a sense of humor. The film is supposed to be silly with slapstick moments. It brought back the perfect level of nostalgia with its light hearted, silly plot line and celebrity cameos. It was so nice to see a sequel actually land and be as enjoyable as the first movie. Don’t come for us for saying that.
The best part of the film for us was the multiple pro-athlete camoes. Specifically golfers however we did see some other athletes take smaller roles. We are counting down our favourite athlete cameos in the film.
- Scottie Scheffler
Scheffler had hands down the best performance of all the athletes. He was funny, unserious and committed to the bit. It’s always fun to see athletes in acting roles and Scheffler really did nail his part.
- Xander Schauffele
Schauffele wasn’t even acting. He delivered his perfectly timed yet severely out of context ‘that’s what she said’ line as if he was making a joke amongst friends.
- John Daly
Another golfer who didn’t have to act. It seems like squirting hand sanitiser into his mouth for the alcohol content is something he’s probably done before. For him this was just a regular day in the life.
- Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Travis Kelce, Justin Thomas, Will Zalatoris
These all share the same ranking for their performance. They were funny, light-hearted and a great addition to the story. Justin Thomas perfectly executed the fan-boy role and Will Zalatoria really did shine as the grown-up-caddy-turned-pro-golfer from the film.
- Kelsey Plum, Bubba Watson, Fred Couples
Honourable mention to these 3 who had smaller rolls but were still memorable.
It would take too long to mention all of the 62 camos in the film but these were out top ones. If you haven’t watched Happy Gilmore 2 yet, set yourself to busy on microsoft teams and watch. Once you’re done, head over to officepools.com and create your Fantasy Golf Pool for the Fedex Cup!
