49ers and Cardinals – MNF Preview

Mexico gets its first NFL game of the season tonight as the 49ers and Cardinals meet for Monday Night Football! San Fransisco is currently a ten-point favorite and the game’s over/under is 43.5 points.

The Teams

After a primetime win last week against the Chargers, the Niners are looking for their third straight victory. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is playing with possibly the most talented offence in the league and as long as he’s not making mistakes, San Fransisco is looking great. Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle are the most dangerous players on the field, but Elijah Mitchell and Brandon Aiyuk are extremely effective as well. With so many options, all Garoppolo must do is keep the offence moving and not make any big mistakes.

Defensively, the 9ers are also very solid. If Colt McCoy plays tonight in Kyler Murray’s absence, which is very likely, expect him to receive a lot of pressure from the front seven.

The 4-6 Cardinals come to Mexico in desperate need of a win to keep in touch with the NFC playoff race. If the team falls tonight, they’ll be two wins behind the final wild card position in the conference with three teams also ahead of them. Colt McCoy did look pretty good in last week’s win over the Rams, but tonight’s opponent is a far more formidable one. For the Cardinals to have a chance in the game, he’ll have to find a way to get the ball to his playmakers and move downfield consistently throughout the night. It’s certainly not an easy task, but it will be necessary to match up with the offensive attack of San Fransisco.

49ers and Cardinals – The Pick

Tonight’s game is fairly lopsided on paper, hence the ten-point spread. However, in a divisional game being played in another country, anything can happen. If Colt McCoy does start for Arizona, the team should be playing with nothing to lose while the 49ers are still battling for an NFC West title. However, if we had to make a pick for the game, we’ll take San Fransisco to cover the spread and win big tonight in Mexico. They’re simply better than Arizona on both sides of the ball, and when healthy, might be the best team in the NFC.

49ers – 10.0
