The NHL season finally begins tonight! By now you probably have your fantasy rosters ready to go and your pick’em picks selected. But we are here to bring our opening night predictions from game results to celebrity sightings – we are here for every single second of hockey after the summer drought.
Chicago Blackhawks vs. Florida Panthers
The reigning 2-time Stanley Cup Champions will host the Blackhawks on Tuesday and it will likely be an easy win for the Panthers. The Blackhawks continue their re-build are aren’t expected to be a contender again this season. While we’d love to see Vancouver native Connor Bedard have a shot at the Stanley Cup this season, we predict the Blackhawks will start the regular season with a loss. Florida also has some famous fans. Maybe super-fan DJ Khaled or Ariana Grande will make an appearance at the home opener.
Pittsburg Penguins vs. New York Rangers
While again, we love to see Canadian powerhouses win games, we also predict Crosby and the Penguins will struggle to pull out a win against the Rangers, who will play their season-opener at home in MSG. The Rangers are expected to be a strong team this season. It wouldn’t be a game at the Garden without some celebrity sightings, and since its Fashion Month in NYC, the city is chock-full of em.
Colorado Avalanche vs. LA Kings
This should be the closest of the 3 opening night games and could go either way with our pick % being almost 50/50 on our site! The Kings will have a home-rink advantage and as much as we love our Canadian kings, MacKinnon and Makar, we’re gonna go with the Kings. And since it’s a home game for the Kings, we predict that their number 1 fan, Will Ferrell will make an appearance.
