THE WINNERS
Sauce Gardner
The Jets got their biggest win of the year in Week 6 against the Packers in Green Bay. It was a dominating effort in every facet of the game, especially defensively, with New York holding Aaron Rodgers’ offence to just ten points all day. Rookie cornerback Sauce Gardner was terrific once again and has proven himself to already be one of the better shutdown corners in the league. After the game, he took a lap around Lambeau wearing a block of cheese on his head and egging on Packers fans. It was truly a great afternoon for Gardner and the Jets.
Bailey Zappe
A QB taken in the late stages of the draft is having success with the New England Patriots. Again. Bailey Zappe was awesome on Sunday as the Pats rolled over the Browns in Cleveland by a score of 38-15. Zappe finished his second career start with 24 completions on 34 attempts and 309 yards. He also threw for two touchdowns and zero interceptions. New England has now won their last two games by a combined 52 points and will look to keep rolling on Monday Night Football at home against the lowly Chicago Bears.
Josh Allen
Allen and the Bills were able to get a bit of revenge in Week 6 at Kansas City as Buffalo took down the Chiefs 24-20. Josh Allen finished the game with 329 yards passing and three touchdowns, while extending his lead in the MVP race as well. The Bills QB is now +150 to win the award and may continue to improve his odds in the coming weeks. Buffalo goes as Allen goes, and for the time being, they’re both going extremely well.
THE LOSERS
Jeff Bezos
NFL fans were treated to yet another terrible Thursday Night Football in Week 6 between the Commanders and Bears. In the last two weeks, only one touchdown has been scored on Thursday night. With Bezos buying the rights to TNF and having it broadcasted on Amazon’s streaming service, he can’t be too pleased with the quality of games we’ve been seeing on Thursday lately. I mean, 12-9 and 12-7? It can’t get any worse. This week, we’ll see the struggling Cardinals take on the injured Saints in what could be yet another bad game. At least DeAndre Hopkins is back!
Tom Brady’s Offensive Line
Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers struggled once again in a demoralizing two-point Week 6 loss to the Steelers. The offence has scored just three touchdowns in the last two weeks and Brady is clearly frustrated. On Sunday, he screamed at his offensive line, calling out their lackluster performance up to that point in the game. The thing is, Brady has only been sacked three times in the last three games, and he’s certainly not one of the league’s more mobile quarterbacks. It’s a weird time in Tampa Bay right now, and the job of those linemen is not one I envy. Hopefully, the team gets right this weekend against possibly the worst team in the league, the Carolina Panthers.
Robby Anderson
Speaking of the Carolina Panthers, things went from bad to worse for them this weekend as interim head coach Steve Wilks removed Robby Anderson from the sidelines in the team’s loss to the L.A. Rams. Anderson had initially been getting into it with a receivers coach earlier in the game before it looked like things had cooled down. When tempers flared once again between Anderson and the coach, Wilks told him to head back to the dressing room. Anderson has since been traded to Arizona Cardinals, while the Panthers are left at 1-5 and with one less talented offensive player on the roster.
