Week 16 Power Rankings

1 – Philadelphia Eagles (1)

Yet again, the Eagles find themselves at the top of our Week 16 Power Rankings. Despite keeping it close against the Bears this week, no team has shown that they deserve to dethrone Philadelphia quite yet. Unfortunately, Jalen Hurts is questionable for Sunday’s divisional game against the Cowboys, which could make things a lot tougher for the 13-1 Eagles.

2 – San Francisco 49ers (2)

The 49ers are on a roll. After winning last Thursday night in Seattle, the team will enjoy a longer break than most before hosting the Commanders on Christmas Eve. Brock Purdy continues to get the job done in Jimmy Garoppolo’s absence while Christian McCaffrey has been fantastic as San Francisco’s every-down back. In the last three games, CMC has had no less than 138 all-purpose yards and has scored four touchdowns. Defensively, San Francisco has one of the most formidable units in the league. In their last seven games, they’ve allowed no more than 17 points.

3 – Cincinnati Bengals (4)

Joe Burrow and the Bengals looked like they may be in some trouble on Sunday before completely leaving Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in the dust. After going down 17-3 in the first half, both sides of the ball came together for the Bengals as they came back to win 34-23. Burrow threw four second half touchdowns and the defence forced four Tom Brady turnovers in an afternoon that proved how dangerous this team can be when they’re on their game. There’s a reason they’re the reigning AFC Champions.

4 – Buffalo Bills (5)

Buffalo remains the top seed in the AFC and gets to 4th in our Week 16 Power Rankings after a thrilling three-point win against Miami. After a few tough weeks, Josh Allen looked great in the cold weather, throwing for four touchdowns and over 300 yards while also running for 77. The defence kept the passing game mostly in check, but was concerning against the run, letting Raheem Mostert set a new season high with 136 yards on 17 carries. Next week, they’ll play the Bears in a game that shouldn’t be close.

5 – Kansas City Chiefs (HM)

Kansas City narrowly avoided disaster this week and sneaks back into the Week 16 Power Rankings after a Dallas loss in Jacksonville. Statistically, the Chiefs and Texans were not close on Sunday, but badly timed turnovers kept Houston in the game past regulation. Patrick Mahomes had a bounce back week and threw just five incomplete passes on 41 attempts, but the team needs to figure some things out before playoffs. This week, they’ll have a great opportunity to get right as they host the spiraling Seattle Seahawks.

Honourable Mentions – Dallas Cowboys / Minnesota Vikings
