NFL Power Rankings – The Preseason Top 5

1 – Buffalo Bills

Many people believe that it may finally be Buffalo’s year. With Josh Allen at the helm and one of the league’s best defenses on the other side of the ball, it’s easy to see why. Last year’s heartbreak against the Chiefs was a brutal way to end the season, but the Bills will be coming back swinging in the new NFL season.

2 – L.A. Rams

The defending champion Rams made some exciting additions this offseason and should be looking at another deep postseason run this year. Cooper Kupp may not have the numbers he did last year, but he’s proven himself as one of the best WRs in the league. On defence, Bobby Wagner joins a group led by Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey. With those guys on the same unit, there will be problems for opposing teams EVERYWHERE. As long as Stafford is healthy and Cam Akers can be the player they expect him to be, the Rams will be tough for anyone to beat.

3 – Kansas City Chiefs

They did lose Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu, but the Chiefs are still the Chiefs. They were one very close game away from their third Super Bowl appearance in 3 years last season. With Mahomes, Andy Reid and Travis Kelce still running the show in Kansas City, this team will always be a threat. However, with a division that’s tougher than ever before and a few doubts starting to creep in, there’s no guarantee that the Chiefs will remain on this list throughout the campaign.

4 – L.A. Chargers

The Chargers have geared up to make a run this year. With virtually the same high-powered offence coming back to L.A. and a some very key additions made on defence, this team has all the pieces to go deep this season. The only thing they lack may be big game experience, but for now, they definitely deserve a spot on this list. The trio of Herbert-Ekeler-Allen may be one of the best in the league and this is their year to prove it.

5 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

No NFC team came closer to beating the Rams in last year’s postseason, and the Bucs did it after digging themselves a huge hole in the first half. Tom Brady is the last guy you should ever doubt when it comes to winning football games. Tampa’s defence is still a stellar unit. All of these factors are why we can comfortably put the Bucs in the fifth and final spot of our Preseason Top 5 Power Rankings.
