Eagles vs. Commanders – MNF Preview

It’s Eagles vs. Commanders tonight in another primetime rivalry game on Monday Night Football! Backed by an unblemished record of 8-0, Philly hosts as 11-point favorites over the desperate 4-5 Commanders. Despite the large spread, the over/under comes in low at 43.5 points scored.

The Teams

For Philadelphia, tonight will be their second straight primetime game. Almost two weeks ago, they struggled out of the gates against the Texans on Thursday night but ended up winning the game by twelve. Jalen Hurts and the offence has continued to shine in each game, but the Eagles’ defence is also deserving of a lot of praise. The unit has only allowed more than 17 points against twice this season. With both sides of the ball seemingly hitting on all cylinders, it’s no wonder we see Philly atop the standings as the last undefeated team in the NFL.

On the other end of the NFC East standings, we have the Washington Commanders. Although they come into tonight as eleven-point underdogs, the Commanders have been playing some better football recently and are 3-1 in their last four games. Also, their only loss in that stretch came by three points last week to the Minnesota Vikings. Taylor Heinicke may not be the future franchise quarterback, but he has been able to move the ball down the field better than Carson Wentz was at the start of the year. With a running game including Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson and a pass game featuring Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel, there’s no doubt that Washington has some legitimate talent around Heinicke.

Eagles vs. Commanders – The Pick

Last time these teams played, the Eagles cruised to a 24-8 victory on the backs of Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith. Hurts threw for 340 yards and three scores while Smith made 8 catches for 169 yards and a touchdown. On the other side of the ball, Carson Wentz was sacked an astonishing nine times. However, that was week 3 and this is now. I do expect the Commanders to put up a better fight this week in a must-win game. Will they win? Probably not, but we’ll take them to cover the spread and keep this one a little closer.
